Staff asked to share their expertise

Jean Jay, director of quality at Vibrance and Sue Warren, Quality Assurance Manager

Two Vibrance staff members have been able to share their expertise at national events recently.

Jean Jay, director of quality at Vibrance, was invited to speak at the launch of the ‘Health Charter for Social Care Providers’ charter, which was held recently in Newscastle.

The charter has been designed to help adult social care providers and staff who have an important role in helping people with learning disabilities access good healthcare and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Drawing on her own experiences, Jean was able to talk about why organisations should sign up to the charter, and the importance to see, value and respect each person supported as an individual.

Jean said: "It was a great privilege to be invited by the National Development Team for inclusion ( NDTi) to speak on behalf of Vibrance, on the importance of improving the health and lives of people with learning disabilities."

Sue Warren, Quality Assurance Manager, was also asked to represent Vibrance at the ‘Growing Old, Living Better’ conference.

Vibrance was one of just three organisations across the country asked to pilot a new evaluation toolkit designed to help organisations to better meet the needs of older people with disabilities.

The toolkit, designed by the Foundation for People with Disabilities and ARC, was piloted in two Vibrance services. Sue was able to offer feedback and suggestions on using the tool to an audience of provider organisations, commissioners, service users and parent/carers, where it was well received.

Sue said: “It was a great honour for Vibrance to be asked to pilot the new evaluation toolkit, and for me personally to be able to give feedback and suggestions on its use at the conference.”

Vibrance chief executive, Paul Allen, said: “The fact that we were invited to take part in these two events is a fantastic reflection on the professionalism and sector knowledge that our staff bring to the organisation on a daily basis. We are incredibly proud of them both."
