Southend Information Event At the Tickfield Centre

Vibrance Self Directed Services held an information event at Southend’s Tickfield Centre for users of Direct Payments. With speakers and information stands this event was more than informative.

For those that attended the event, they heard from Mike Boyle – Commissioner of Adult and Community Service for Southend Borough Council, who shared his knowledge on the strategic commissioning of services in the borough.

Sponsors of the Event, Skills for Care, offered information, delivered by Lee Stribling, on Supporting employers and spoke of her own personal experiences of being an employer of personal assistants and some of the challenges she had faced. Lee also gave information on training available and the funding sources which employers are able to use.

Tom Murray – Service User told attendees about using his Direct Payment and how it has had a positive effect on his life.

Simon Maybury – ACAS, Updated us on the new regulations covering working parents, flexible working, managing staff without default retirement age and the impact of the Equality Act 2010. Simon also explained the role of ACAS and how they can help us all understand Employment Law.
