An Ilford based charity was ‘honoured’ to showcase its excellent social care work during a VIP visit from a Dame.

Dame Moira Gibb was welcomed with open arms by social care charity, Vibrance, on Friday 28th November, and shown around its Orchard Close care home, in Wanstead, which supports people with in mental health needs.

The visit marked the start of her spell as Chair of Skills for Care - the strategic body which promotes and develops workforce best practice in the adult social care sector.

Dame Moira paid Vibrance a visit as she wanted to experience first-hand the outstanding work currently happening in the care sector.

As an organisation fully engaged with Skills for Care, and with outstanding recognition of recent work with ICare Ambassadors, Apprenticeships, and PA Registers, Vibrance was invited by Skills for Care to host a visit at one of their services.

During Dame Moira’s visit, Vibrance showcased the work that takes place across the whole charity, giving her a real taste of the ethos and core values behind the charity.

Paul Allen, Vibrance Chief Executive said: “We are honoured to have been chosen to host the visit from Dame Moira Gibb, we had a great time talking with her and feel sure she did too.”

“We wished to give Moira a valuable insight to everything we do here at Vibrance and this visit wouldn’t have been complete without meeting our service users to see and experience how the dedicated work that Vibrance does contributes to the lives of each individual.

“Everyone here at Vibrance would like to wish Dame Moira Gibb all the best for the future in her new role at Skills for Care.”

In addition to her new role, Dame Moira is a Non-Executive Director at NHS England, and the UK Statistics Authority, Chair of City Lit Adult Education College, member of the Council of Reading University and was previously Chief Executive with Camden Council during which time she also chaired firstly the Social Work Taskforce and then the Social Work Reform Board.

Vibrance supports over 450 adults throughout London and the South East with learning disabilities and mental health issues, offering a range of community day services, low-support housing, nursing and care homes, short breaks, supported employment and self-directed services.

The organisation employs around 400 people and was named in The Sunday Times ‘100 Best Companies To Work For’ in 2012.
