A leading social care charity in Ilford reflects on a successful year as Sainsbury’s Charity of the Year.

Vibrance was voted as Sainsbury’s Ilford Charity of the Year by the local community in 2015.

Sainsbury’s Local Charity scheme has been established for seven years, and every Sainsbury’s store partners with and supports a registered local charity for one year. The partnerships nationwide have raised over £11million to date.

Vibrance supports people to lead their lives as they wish and to challenge barriers that prevent individual choice and fulfilment.

Vibrance held a variety of in-store fundraising activities, including bag packing, carol singing and a spinathon. Staff and customers also had the opportunity to support the charity by purchasing in-store Vibrance trolley coins and badges.

Sainsbury’s Ilford also generously donated over £1,000 to Vibrance, from the money raised through the sale of carrier bags.

Vibrance raised over £3,000 during it’s time as Sainsbury’s Charity of the Year, which will go towards the Vibrance ‘Make it Happen’ fundraising campaign. The ‘Make it Happen’ campaign has helped service users achieve their dreams, whether this is swim with dolphins or learn to dance.

Reflecting on their time as Sainsbury’s Ilford Charity of Year, Vibrance chief executive, Paul Allen, said: “We were delighted to be chosen by staff and the local community as Sainsbury’s Ilford Charity of the Year, and we had a fantastic year working alongside the store. We would like to say thank you to all of the staff at Sainsbury’s Ilford, and the local community, for supporting us and getting so involved in all of our fundraising activities.”

Mark Twell, store manager of Ilford Sainsbury’s, said: “We are very proud to have had Vibrance as Ilford’s Charity of the Year, especially as it is a charity close to some of our colleagues hearts. We enjoyed working with the team at Vibrance, and found them to be very professional and supportive throughout our year together. I’d like to wish Vibrance and all of the team the very best for the future.”
