Celebrating Our Successes

Photo taken at the Annual Review 2012On 12 October Vibrance held its 2012 Annual Review at the Holiday Inn in Newbury Park. The event was attended by 200 service users, staff and friends from outside of Vibrance and gave us the chance to look back at our achievements over the last year and to think about the challenges coming our way in the next year.

The over-arching theme of the day was IT and how it can improve people’s lives and give them more choice and control.

The highlights of the day were:

  • Gosia Kwiatkowska from The Rix Centre, University of East London, and Delia Palmer from our Dunelm Nursing Home showed us how multi-media technology is enabling people with profound and complex disabilities to make choices and to keep in contact with family members
  • Two of our residents from Larwood Registered Care Home are using Ipads with specialist Apps to communicate and are getting great support from the Apple Store in Lakeside. Paula Lee, Manager at Larwood gave a great presentation
  • A group of our service users, supported by Seachange Advocacy gave a drama presentation called “What has IT ever done for us?”

In the afternoon Paul, our Chief Executive, presented training awards to service users and staff. 10 and 15 year long service awards were also presented to staff.

The Annual Review culminated in the presentation by Elaine Richardson of the 2012 Colin Richardson Awards.

  • The 2012 Team Ward went to the Ray Park Cafe staff team for the support they had given to Sally Ann Childs to work at the cafe and overcome the loneliness she felt following the closure of her day centre.
  • The 2012 Individual Award went to Helen Aigbogun, a Support Worker at Orchard Close, for the support over the last year she had given to Timothy Lusty enabling him to move out into his own flat.

Congratulations to them all!
