Vibrance service user Albert Nayken has proved he has the skills to ‘Workright’ by completing a national employment course.

Albert aged 30 recently completed workplace-based training, giving him the necessary skills to gain employment. He is the first Vibrance service user to complete the ASDAN 'Workright' programme.

Albert who attends Vibrance’s Waltham Forest Day services, was awarded his certificate today (Wednesday 29 January) by Paul Allen at the Vibrance-run café, Phoenix Blend, located near Liverpool Street.

Providing courses to thousands of UK and international schools, colleges, youth centres and training providers, ASDAN offer flexible ways to accredit learning skills for the workplace.

Albert, who has been with Vibrance for three years, began his assessment process on 29th November 2012. His assessment consisted of health and safety, being responsible, working with others and being in the work environment.

Registered charity Vibrance offers supported employment opportunities, through its 'Pathways to Employment' enterprise, which manages its Phoenix Blend café and builds links with local employers. Vibrance job coach, John Mahon, is now supporting Albert to apply for a position as a café assistant.

Commenting on his Workright certification, National Development Co-ordinator for ASDAN, Simon Lawrence, wrote in his feedback: "Well done Albert, what an impressive portfolio. You have obviously put in a lot of hard work at the café and have learnt a great deal of new employability skills. Your work is well presented and you should be congratulated on your achievement."

Vibrance Chief Executive Paul Allen said: "We are always looking to make a difference to the lives of our service users. It’s wonderful news that Albert has gained his ASDAN ‘Workright’ accreditation. We are hoping that more service users will sign up and complete similar programmes. Albert will hopefully be an inspiration to other service users who wish to pursue a career and who can use our supported employment service in conjunction with ASDAN."
