RCHL to Vibrance – one year on

It’s hard to believe that it was a whole year ago that we changed our name to Vibrance – time has certainly flown by.

Since then, lots has happened.

We have taken part in important research about zero-hours contracts, we’ve ‘road-tested’ a national dementia toolkit, we signed up to the London Living Wage, and we were highly commended for our work in the borough of Redbridge over the past 25 years by the Mayor of the borough at an awards ceremony.

Our commitment to transforming the organisation’s performance through the development and motivation of our staff was recognised when we were awarded the prestigious Silver Investors in People award in December. It was a proud moment, as it made us one of only 837 organisations in the country to have been given the award.

Another major achievement for us was the launch of our ‘LinkMeUp’ service in February, which has made it easier for adults and children with disabilities to link up with essential services, such as Personal Assistants, at a click of a button.

With the name change also came the switch to charitable status, which has allowed us to access funding in a different way to before. It has also allowed us to begin fundraising for extra revenue, with one of the first events in April seeing 30 brave souls take to their exercise bikes and pedal an amazing 1,200 miles between them. We’re planning lots more fundraising activities for the coming year and would be happy to see as many people as possible getting involved.

The next year will also bring an opportunity for us to develop our autism specific services, following our achievement of the accreditation with the National Autistic Society in March 2014. Bringing together our belief in offering personalised services, we will be focussing on supporting people with complex needs to enable them to have individually designed support.

As we are now an accredited ASDAN centre, we will also be developing our offer for young people to gain certificates and qualifications in a range of life and work skills. Initially offered through our day services, we will be rolling this out to all people using Vibrance services, to allow more people to have the opportunity to gain additional skills to take them into the future.

Later this year we are also looking forward to celebrating our 25th anniversary – a milestone we will be marking with some enjoyable events for staff and service users. More details will be revealed soon – so watch this space!
